Cop from Marawi to head the Iloilo provincial PNP

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, an Ilonggo by heart, is now set to take over the directorship of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

Tayaba—a native of Pangasinan but married to an Ilongga, will leave his post at the war-torn Marawi City to head the IPPO, replacing Sr. Supt. Harold Tuzon, who was stripped of his post effective June 18, the day that armed NPA rebels overran  the Maasin Police Station in Maasin, Iloilo.

Tayaba was earlier assigned as the commander of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) on January 2017, after leading the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Region 6.

A member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1993, Tayaba spent half of his police career in Iloilo, right after his graduation.

Tayaba said he was informed on June 19 of his relief at ARMM and his reassignment to the Police Regional Office-6 to head the IPPO. (FREEMAN)
