LTFRB-8 steps up drive vs colorum vehicles

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board-Region 8 vowed to intensify its drive against operations of colorum vehicles.

Ahmed Cuizon, the new LTFRB-8 regional director, told transport leaders in Eastern Visayas in a dialogue on Monday, about the agency’s heightened campaign against colorum passenger vehicles, which he said are still rampant in Leyte and Samar.

Cuizon said he had discussed the matter already with acting Regional Director Edgardo Catarongan of the Land Transportation Office-8, prior to the implementation of the crackdown.

Cuizon had just assumed the regional office, replacing the then director Arthur Saippudin who was suspended by LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III.

Cuizon's action came after transport leaders continued to complain at the LTFRB on the continuing operations of many colorum passenger vehicles despite agency laws and regulations. (FREEMAN)
