Motorcycle riding men shoots, hurts mayor’s supporter
Rommel L. Rutor (The Freeman) - December 31, 2015 - 9:00am

CALBAYOG CITY, Philippines — A known supporter of City Mayor Ronald Aquino was shot and wounded by riding-in-tandem men at about 5 p.m. Thursday at Barangay Carayman, this city.

The victim was identified as Jojo Taduyo, a brother of Adam Taduyo, a candidate for village chairman in the past elections but was killed early in 2015, just before his election opponent, Justin Belleza, was also shot dead.

Based on initial reports obtained by The Freeman, the perpetrators in Thursday’s incident fired shots at Jojo but failed to hit the latter fatally, because of the presence of a policeman at the time.

The still unidentified policeman, who happened to be a cousin of Jojo, was able to return fire at the riding-in-tandem men, reportedly wounding one of them.

Jojo was immediately brought to a medical facility in the city, while the perpetrators were able to flee from the scene.

Investigations are still going on, and the police have yet to provide details on the incident.  (FREEMAN)
