EDITORIAL - Happy Easter!

The Freeman

It’s now time to rejoice. After days of mourning over the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, here we are across Christendom rejoicing over His resurrection, which fulfilled God’s promise of salvation for the human race.

His death was a testament to God’s love for the world that He sent His only begotten son to save mankind from sins. Christ’s death and resurrection had completed His worldly mission that grants everlasting life to those who come to God.

Now, it’s our call to act. We need to compensate Christ’s sacrifices by following in His footsteps. He has given us a chance, a shot at redemption. Therefore, it is our duty to cast our sins away and repent to be worthy of salvation.

Many of us today are on vacation in the provinces and other faraway places to take advantage of the long weekend. Of course, its purpose is to escape from the hectic routine that surrounds the busy urban life.

However, in our Lenten respite, there are questions that need to be asked. First is that do we have time to ponder about the need to reject our worldly activities to follow Christ? How often are we thinking about accepting God’s promise of salvation?

Many of us, being saddled with a very busy life, have opted to take a break for some enjoyment. This is perhaps the reason why it has become ordinary for some to hit beaches and places of fun during the Holy Week break.

But did we make God and His love the focus of whatever we are embarking on the past days? Lenten break, especially the Holy Week, should have been set aside solely for us to think about Christ’s sacrifices.

Now, it’s time for believers to rejoice since His resurrection today and His eventual return to heaven meant eternal life for those who follow His path. Happy Easter!
