Not surprised

It turned out that the two hitmen who shot and killed two jail guards of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology were policemen. Police Officer 3 Arnel Rubio and Police Officer 1 Jover John Lardizabal shot and killed Jail Officer 1 Felino Salazar and Jail Officer 2 Elmer Malibdao as the two were leaving the Muntinlupa City jail. But the two policemen were also chased and killed by responding jail officers from the same jail. Police officers who responded to the scene were surprised when they recognized Rubio. So what's this all about?

According to investigators, drugs may have been involved. Salazar is on the drug watchlist of the NCRPO, and was also supposedly involved in robbery and extortion. If so, is this an extrajudicial killing executed by two policemen? Does it become justified since Salazar is supposedly involved in drugs and other crimes? Many were not surprised when it was discovered that policemen shot the two jail guards. As for Police Officer 3 Rubio, he was dismissed last September of 2016 due to grave misconduct, while Lardizabal was assigned to the NCRPO in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig. Why were the two together? Were they designated hitmen? If so, who ordered them to kill?

If the two policemen were not killed by responding jail officers, this would have been treated as another unsolved drug related case involving Salazar. That would have been the end of the investigation. However, since policemen were involved, an investigation had to be conducted. I remember the murder of Zenaida Luz, who was killed in front of her house by motorcycle-riding men. One was wearing a wig while the other wore a ski mask, obviously to conceal their identities. But when responding policemen wounded and cornered them, they introduced themselves as policemen to prevent them from being killed. Another team of hitmen from the PNP? They have since been allowed to post bail, and have been returned to active status, salaries and all. What happened to their case? Is the evidence still lacking as to their guilt? The wig and ski mask were not enough evidence of a plan to commit murder?

On a much better note, the Department of Justice has filed murder charges against the two Caloocan policemen for the killing of Carl Angelo Arnaiz and Reynaldo de Guzman. Police Officer 1 Jeffrey Perez and Police Officer 1 Ricky Arquilita are accused of torturing and killing the two teenagers. I wonder if their salaries were doubled, being members of the PNP. These are just a few of the incidents where policemen are involved in killing people, whether innocent or not. For certain there are many more incidents where the killers have not been caught. But again, many will not be surprised if the killers turn out to be policemen. Are there no extrajudicial killings under this administration? Really?
