On April 28, 1965 Cebu commemorated the Fourth Centennial Anniversary of the Christianization of the Philippines. It started upon the arrival of General Miguel Lopez de Legaspi on the shores of Cebu.
Atty. Gervasio Lira Lavilles, in his book, Cebu: History of its Four Cities & Forty Nine Municipalities published during the commemoration wrote that there were 84 parish priests in Cebu's four cities and 49 municipalities. These were the names of the priests and their parishes:

At present our parishes are shepherded by a Team Ministry composed of usually three or more priests. This is made to address the growing number of parishioners.
