Zubiri visits Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines - Former senator Juan Miguel Zubiri visited Lapu-Lapu  and Mandaue cities yesterday and assured officials of support to their health programs if given a fresh mandate on May13.

 Zubiri met Congressman Arturo Radaza, his wife Mayor Paz Radaza, members of the city council headed by Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong.

Zubiri said he will push for the Universal Health Care program for Filipinos.

Congressman Radaza and his wife Paz assured  Zubiri of support in his re-election bid.

In Mandaue City, Zubiri promised Mayor Jonas Cortes he will work with him and city officials regarding the needs of the city hospital.

Zubiri also assured barangay captains he will provide financial assistance to their projects.

“Tanang barangay sa dakbayan sa Mandaue hatagan gayud nato og ayuda sama sa mga lungsod, dakbayan ug probinsya sa tibuok Visayas and Mindanao,” Zubiri said.

He also announced that the Pediatric Pavillion, which was funded through his Priority Development Assistant Fund (PDAF), now complete.

He said the funding for these projects was released when he was still a senator. He said the pavilion will boost the capability of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center to address pediatric cases.

Consisting of two floors, the pavillion can accommodate100 patients.

The ground floor houses the respiratory and gastro intestinal disease wards, miscellaneous diseases ward, the oral hydration unit, and the satellite laboratory.

The second floor houses the regular pediatric ICU, neonatal ICU, the outborne noenate ICU, isolation rooms, the department offices, library, and conference room.  (FREEMAN)
