Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Philip Sainz bagged the last race of the month of July in the Mandaue City Weekly Criterium at the city’s reclamation area yesterday.

Sainz, of Team Amorganda-Williams, topped the fast 50-above category after dealing 15 laps of action at 2.2 kilometers per lap. He was lucky to also have the support of his teammates that prevented another decorated cyclist Nilo Barbalose from finishing first this time.

Two of his teammates--Rommel Bermejo and Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur Mayor Eric Melleana--came out third and fourth placers, respectively. MG Guillermo of Team 5S settled for fifth place.

Meanwhile, Pablito Sarsaba claimed the top spot of the slow 50 class after 12 laps over Ferdinand Baguio while Pablo Napoles, Jojo Arana, and Albert de la Rosa of Team Bikaholics finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

Robert Louis Sabello, on the other hand, ruled the 40-50 category over Rico Pitogo while Elton Macapagong of team Bike Topia ended third. Rico Silva of Crest Forwarders came out fourth while Vince Carl Camaongay completed the top five.

The open road category was ruled by Sumiso Basalan, Ronan Pedroza, and Kevin Cresencio, respectively.

Chris Andreu Ferrer also had a good day after posting a back-to-back victory in the mountainbike open with 12 laps over Israel Go. Roy Carbonera wound up third as Junreck Carcueva came in fourth while Matt Gregory Pimentel settled fifth.
