Plastic Men oust Buffalos, to face Sarok Weavers in Visayas finals

CEBU, Philippines —  The Sherilin-Unisol Mandaue City Plastic Men slammed the San Fernando Buffalos, 83-72, in the semifinal round of the 2022 Pilipinas Super League (PSL) 21 Under-VisMin leg last night at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero.

Interestingly, that was all the Plastic Men needed to set up a championship battle against reigning titlist Consolacion Sarok Weavers for the coveted Visayas division crown.

Actually, the Plastic Men and the Sarok Weavers still have to meet in the last day of semis today but their 2 p.m. duel has no bearing as it has been turned into a preview of their best-of-three finals series starting this weekend.

Still, it is a matter of significance for the Plastic Men so they can further gauge their strength at this stage of the tournament most especially that they lost  to the Sarok Weavers, 69-73, during their first meeting last July 16.

Against the Buffalos, the Plastic Men were ahead by just a matchstick after three quarters, 61-60, but shut down San Fernando’s final chances using a decisive 22-12 rally at the endgame.

Daryl Guerrero dished out a solid double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, Acer Rom Michael Go added 12 points, while Christopher Isabelo and JZ Dizon chipped in 11 markers apiece for the Plastic Men.

Harvey Caño paced the Buffalos with 18 points and seven rebounds while Jhon Lyster Mamalia and Jun Ryan Pasilan each scored 11 in a losing effort. — EBV
