99ers barge into ABL quarters

CEBU, Philippines — GV Dumadag fired 25 points on top of eight assists and seven rebounds as the 99ers roasted Jamal’s Lechon, 81-69, in the 1st Amicis Basketball League (ABL) season at the Consolacion Sports Complex.

Emiric Abellar chipped in 23 markers and seven rebounds while Manuel Cobcoban donated 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the 99ers of playing coach Cyrus Pono who are assured of a quarterfinal seat in the 30-above category with a 4-3 win-loss record.

The 99ers controlled the tempo of the match from the start, never looking back after taking a 31-24 edge at the break.They mounted a double-digit lead after three quarters, 61-38, which they did not relinquish until the final buzzer.

Jude Pinto topscored for Jamal’s Lechon with 36 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Ian Piti-ilan finished with 13 points and six rebounds while Jimbe Saberon had 11 points and six assists in a losing cause.

Games of the maiden ABL season backed up by North Sports Apparel, VDrink Malunggay Juice, Fighter 50 Wine, and Consolacion LGU headed by mayor Joyjoy Alegado are under the supervision of commissioner Lee Mar Dahil assisted by technical committee chief Aurelio Eslawan.  EBV
