Top seeds breeze through E-Leagues semis

CEBU, Philippines — The top-ranked teams didn’t have to resort to their twice-to-beat advantage as they downed their respective rivals to barge into the semifinal round without any glitch in the Tanduay Athletics CSCC E-Leagues for Basketball Season 15 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

In the Elite Classic, the Sykes Pioneers bolstered their bid for back-to-back championships after terminating the Wipro Tigers, 72-59, while the top seeded Accenture Sharks rolled into the Final Four after booting out the QBE Generals, 72-56.

Earldred Montilla scattered 18 points while Dominic Adlawan chipped in 11 markers for the Pioneers, who are on a collision course for a grudge title rematch with the Sharks.

Sherwin Resilla was the lone double-digit scorer for the Sharks with 11 points.

In the EVO League, the top-ranked Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs and the No.2 seed Dynata Warriors progressed into the best-of-three semis starting next week.

The Flying Lemurs sent the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties packing via a close 72-68 decision, while the rampaging Warriors handed the Executive Boutique/SVC Bulldogs their exit papers, 64-60.

Joey Juntilla showed the way for the Flying Lemurs with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He was able backed up by Robert Castro Jr. and Jerard de la Cerna with 21 combined points.

On the other hand, Tommy Ugsimar sparkled with 27 points, eight rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist as the Warriors stretched their winning streak to 11 games, the longest this season. Karl Rubica was the other bright spot for Dynata with 12 points.
