Eagles trounce Rams in Elite caging

CEBU, Philippines — JL Manila stole the show as the Eagles slammed the Rams, 76-60, in the Elite Basketball Club-Cebu Season 16 at the Visayas Glass gym in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Manila finished with 19 points on top of four steals, four assists and two rebounds to emerge as player of the game.

Jojo Arano also made his presence felt with 15 points for the Eagles, who used a sizzling second-quarter attack to turn the tables on the Rams.

Trailing 11-18 after the first period, the Eagles retaliated with a searing 19-4 rally to seize full control of the match at halftime, 30-22.

Oliver Sanoy posted a game-high 25 points while Careem Micarandayo nailed 11 markers in a losing cause for the Rams.

In the other game, Ian Cabanero unloaded 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists to power the Wolves to an 86-78 beating of the Scorpions.

Dexter Cabasan also tallied 18 points while Paolo Georsua scored 17 for the Wolves, who never looked back after ending the first half with a 17-point advantage, 46-29.

Paul Torrecampo and Keaton Taburnal connived for 45 points but their efforts proved futile for the Scorpions. (FREEMAN)
