Cebuano karatekas to see action in Malaysia

CEBU, Philippines — Young Cebuano karatekas will strut their wares in the 1st Shureido Cup Karate Championships today at the Likas Sports Complex in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

Two Cebu teams in the Association for the Upliftment of Karatedo (AUK) Karate Pilipinas-VII and Sports Karatedo Organization(SKO) will see action in the tournament.

Leading AUK are  Aj Ala Villamor, Giovanni Ephraim Apuya and Jeremy Laurence Nopre together with their teammates from Bacolod in Rik Simon and Rus Joshua Macaya, while the SKO bets are Alexis Patalinghug, Trisha Jean Ogoc, Alexis Villacarlos, Janine Narboada, Christine Marie Sacedon, Jhudiel Oliver, John Ranz Mahinay and John Cyril Mahinay.

Meanwhile, AUK’s head coach Rhodee Ann Saavedra had to skip the trip to Malaysia to continue her preparation as one of the national team coach for the 30th Southeast Asian Games. (FREEMAN)
