Cebu jins shine in Korea Open

CEBU, Philippines — Cebuana jins Rinna Babanto and Aidaine Laxa made a valuable contribution for Team Philippines after delivering gold medals in ther poomsae event of the 2019 Chuncheon, Korea Open International Taekwondo Tournament in Chuncheon, Korea the other night.

Babanto and Laxa along with Jocel Lyn Ninobla won the under-30 women’s category.

Their male counterparts, Raphael Enrico Mella, Rodolfo Reyes, Jr and Patrick King Perez also won the gold in their division.

Babanto was also fielded in the individual battle and won against a Korean bet in her first assignment, but lost to Taipei in the second match.

Babanto also joined the pairs competition with Reyes in which the duo settled for fifth place.

This is the second time that Babanto and Laxa teamed up in an international tournament. The two also saw action in the ASEAN Taekwondo Federation (ATF) Taekwondo Championships last May at the SM Mall of Asia Arena wherein they copped the bronze medal.
