CEBU, Philippines — The defending champions Talisay City Aquastars shoot for the title clincher while the Mandaue City Ballers hope to gain lifeline when they clash anew in Game 2 of their best-of-three finals series in the 2019 Cebu Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Under 21 Developmental Basketball Tournament tonight at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Game time is set at 8 pm, right after the battle for third place between the Minglanilla Archangels and the Balamban Shipbuilders at 6:30 pm.

Talisay of coach Rey Michael Gurrea moved a win shy from claiming back-to-back championships after it overhauled a 15-point deficit in the second half to fluster Mandaue, 81-76, during the series opener last May 3 at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

Things will be different this time though as Gary Cortes-mentored Mandaue welcomes the return of their explosive big man Kenneth Brillo from a one-game suspension.

Brillo is expected to add firepower to Mandue’s offensive arsenal.

Aside from Brillo, Mandaue can also rely on the likes of Gabriel Cometa, Archie Buscay, Paul John Gonzaga, Lemuel Gonzaga, Jhun Art Marco and Michael de los Angeles as they try to extend the series into its full route.

Talisay, on the other hand, has an army of talents to depend upon as they go all-out for the P500,000 bounty. Among them are Jay Deiparine, Keaton Taburnal, Kendrick Abarquez, Clark Louis Ruedas, Ronan Briones, Elmer Villabrille, Jhaylord Castro, and Gerald Inigo.

Game 3, if necessary, will be played on Saturday (May 11), at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym. - EBV
