Action-packed motocross show slated in Medellin

CEBU, Philippines — After San Remigio, exciting motocross action continues in northern Cebu with the staging of the 2019 Mayor Joven Mondigo Invitational Motocross on April 28 in Medellin town famous for its pristine beaches, vast sugarcane plantation and world-class golf course.

“It’s been a while since we had a race in Medellin and I’m looking forward to another highly entertaining motocross action in there,” said Cebuano businessman-sportsman Lou Ornopia of the organizing MS Motosuit.

Just like during the 21st Calambua Motocross Cup in Calambua, San Remigio last week, over a hundred speed demons across the country will be coming over to Medellin to show their maneuvering skills and gravity-defying stunts inside the highly technical race course designed after that of the international standard.

“It’s going to be another action-packed battle in the racetrack given the caliber of the participating riders from all over the country led, of course, by Cebu’s homegrown talents,” added Ornopia, who was once honored as “Sportsman of the Year’ by the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC).

Leading the cast of contenders are two of Cebu’s most decorated daredevils, BJ Pepito and Jonjon Adlawan. They are expected to renew their rivalry in Medellin after splitting the coveted pro open and expert division titles in Calambua.

Aside from the pro open and expert, the other categories to be contested in the one-day tilt are the local enduro, beginners production, mini class 50cc and 85cc, intermediate, novice open production, and ladies open. There will also be a special race for the underbone and buggy class.

Presented by MS Motosuit in association with Medellin LGU headed by mayor Benjun Mondigo, the adrenaline-pumping spectacle is backstopped by MSY Holdings Corporation, Martin Salimbangon Yeung, CLS Properties, congressman Benhur Salimbangon, Alex Patino, Gonzalodo Enterprises, Duros Development Corp., Elton Salimbangon, Engr. Godofredo Laga, Jr. and Liga ng mga Barangay President Edwin Salimbangon. (FREEMAN)
