Dragons tame Tigers in E-Leagues

CEBU, Philippines — Nino Belande and Nigerian center Bina Ikiya Mark Egbe registered double-doubles as the Fusion BPO Services Dragons snapped out of their four-game skid with a 90-81 drubbing of the Wipro Tigers in the Elite Classic of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 14 last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Belande finished with 23 points and passed out 10 assists, while the six-foot-four Egbe also tallied 23 points on top of 11 rebounds.

Aldrin Fernandez banged in 20 markers for the Dragons, who got their only fourth win in 13 games.

Earvin Dennis Ferraren churned out 20 points, Brian Deodoro had 16, while Randol Espinosa and Aaron Suson  connived for 25 points but to no avail as Tigers suffered their sixth straight loss and seventh overall in nine starts.

In the EVO League, the JP Morgan Chase Bankers annihilated the Shearwater Health Crusaders, 83-58, the SSI/Research Now Warriors slaughtered the Streamline Kangaroos, 89-60, while the Results Manila Spartans spanked the Optum Knights, 69-56.

James Patrick Bactol pulled off 23 points, while Pean Jazz Bartoces, Jeyson Goden and Jun Mark Bayon had a combined total of 38 points as the Bankers improved to 7-3.

In sharp contrast, the Crusaders dropped to 3-7 despite a scintillating 27-point show by Lucien Paolo Lumapas.

The Warriors, on the other hand, drew 52 combined points from Jose Carlo Amimita, Russef Pananganan, Zeke Walfred Espejon and Karl Michael Rubica as their bettered their record to 4-6, while Results Manila notched their seventh victory against three losses behind the 25-point outburst of Jade Seno.
