Webmasters shoot for win No.7

CEBU, Philippines — The pace-setting University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and two-time defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers take on separate foes with a different agenda in mind in the 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum today.

The Webmasters will try to keep their unbeaten record intact as they begin their second round campaign against the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors at 4 p.m., while the Lancers are eyeing vengeance against the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars in their 5:30 p.m. duel.

Unbeaten still at 6-0, the Yayoy Alcoseba-mentored Webmasters are poised to repeat against the Warriors, who are currently at fifth in the standings with a 2-4 win-loss record.

On the other hand, the Lancers, fresh from a 70-51 demolition of the slumping Southwestern University (SWU)–Phinma Cobras, 70-51, are seeking payback against the Jaguars who dealt them their first loss of the season.

At the moment, the Lancers sat at third spot in the leaderboard with a 4-2 slate, just a full game behind the second-ranked Jaguars (5-1).

In high school games, reigning titleholders UV Baby Lancers hope to stretch their hot streak to 4-0 when they go up against the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons in the 1 p.m. opener, while the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles train their sights on back-to-back victories when they battle the Baby Cobras at 2:30 p.m.— EBV
