3 Cebuanos to test limits in 500K ultra marathon

The three Cebuano ultra runners (wearing Bisdak shirts) will try to test their limits of their physical endurance and mental toughness as they take part in the Zark’s Burger Ultimate Run, by far the longest ultra marathon in the country covering a 500-kilometer route from Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte to Quezon City’s Memorial Circle.

CEBU, Philippines — Three Cebuano ultra runners led by Edwin Colina are out to test the limits of their physical endurance and mental toughness as they take part in the Zark’s Burger Ultimate Run, by far the longest ultra marathon in the country covering a 500-kilometer route from Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte to Quezon City’s Memorial Circle.

Aside from Colina, Cebu’s other bets in the lung-busting race will start at 3 p.m. today are Jussell Ramirez and Rosella Abajo, the only girl in the group.

Only 10 ultra marathoners are reportedly confirming their entry in the punishing five-day journey including three from Negros Occidental and the Ireland-based Rolando Espina and Jive Tolentino.

Interestingly, there are no takers from Luzon even if the event happens in their place.

“Ni-join mi ani to test our endurance kung asa jud kutob,” said Colina.

The longest route that Colina has conquered so far was a 280-kilometer race from Santander to Daanbantayan.

Ramirez, on the other hand, is a finisher of a 210K ultra marathon, while Abajo takes pride for completing a 342K race. (FREEMAN)
