3rd Cebu Northwest 100 Miles Ultramarathon set November 18

CEBU, Philippines — Long distance runners from all over the region will be put to the test in the third edition of the Cebu Northwest 100 Miles Ultramarathon slated on November 18 starting at the Daan Bantayan Municipal Hall and ending at the Plaza Independencia.

Aside from top local runners, out-of-town participants coming from Leyte, Davao City and Manila are set to join the event.

From Daan Bantayan, the runners will traverse the towns of San Remigio, Tabuelan, Tuburan, Asturias, and Balamban passing to Transcentral Highway until they reach Barangay Lahug to Cebu City.

Gun start is at 12 midnight on November 18 (Saturday) and is expect to end Sunday morning.

“The challenge here is how the runners will manage their time. We have set a 34-hour cut off time, so it is really up to them on how they will deal with fatigue and hunger while they are running,” said race director Edwin Colina.

Finishers will receive a specially designed commemorative buckle, dog tag and finisher’s shirt. The top three finishers will be awarded trophies.

This long-busting run serves as a qualifier for the 2018 One Cebu 550 Km Ultramarathon which will happen in August next year. (FREEMAN)
