CEBU, Philippines - Everything is already in place for a better and more exciting seventh edition of the Hunat Sugbu Run set for June 25 at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

For the first time since its inception in 2012, the organizing Cebu Parklane International Hotel will be using a timing chip device, thus, ensuring a faster and more effective race results for runners.

“This will be the first time that we will be using a 'time-in chip' that will be installed on the shoe. We have do’s and don’ts

on it when you claim your race packets. With the timing chip, you have to register on time since slots are limited,” said CPIH General Manager Cenelyn Maguilimutan during the event's formal launching yesterday.

The timing chip though will be available only for the 12K and 21K categories. Manual timing still still be used in the the other two distances featured, the 3K and 6K.

“Please take care of your timing chips because there will be no replacement for it. You can register again, but only if there are still slots available,” said event chairman Nic Nacorda.

A total of 700 slots are alloted for the 21K and 500 for the 12K.

Though a charity race held in memory of the hotel's founding president Manuel Go Ting, the organizers will still be giving away a total of P72,000 in cash prize to the winners. Also, the top five finishers in the men’s and women’s 12K and 21K will get plaques, while the top three in other divisions will receive medals.

Manguilimotan said proceeds of the fund-raiser will be used for their medical-surgical mission in Barangay Kamputhaw.

Entry fee is pegged at P400 for the 3K, P500 for the 6K, P700 for the 12K and P800 for the 21K.
