CEBU, Philippines -  To make this year's Independence Day celebration more meaningful, Cebu Holdings, Inc. and Ayala Center Cebu in partnership with R.O.X. will spearhead a fun bike ride for a cause.

Billed as 'Heroes Bike Out,'  the charity event is set on June 19, from 6-8 a.m., following a six-kilometer route around the Cebu Business Park with starting point at the Terraces grounds fronting Krispy Kreme.

In a press conference yesterday at Kpub BBQ, Ayala associate marketing manager Ayala Ian Joplin Virrey said they're expecting around 150 bicycle enthusiasts in the fund-raiser for the benefit of HERO Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides educational assistance in the form of stipends to children and dependent siblings of Filipino soldiers killed in action (KIA) or totally incapacitated while in line of duty.

Virrey said the bike out is part of a bigger campaign that is the "Bayan Bayani" or community of heroes.

"There is a hero in each and everyone of us that is we challenge everyone to celebrate Independence and be part of something greater than themselves," said Virrey.

Aside from taking part in the bike out and making donations to the foundation, Virrey said they are also egging on the participants to share stories of heroes and extraordinary people they know. One may upload it with the hashtag #BayanBayani and tag @AyalaCenterCebu.

Registration is pegged at P200 inclusive of an event shirt, snacks and a chance to win exciting raffle prizes from ROX. One may enlist at the Ayala Concierge situated at Level 1 near Bench or call 266-2535 for further details. (FREEMAN)
