Tyron/USPF nails first win in Partner’s Cup

CEBU, Philippines - The Tyron Properties-backed University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers banked on a strong endgame kick to turn back My Led Opto/Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats, 69-64, and score their first win in the 8th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner's Cup yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Panthers trailed for most of the way, including at 50-54 after three quarters, but charged back with savvy in the closing minutes of the contest to baffle the Wildcats at the final buzzer. Overall, they outpointed CIT-U in the fourth quarter, 19-10.

Despite snapping out of their three-game slump though, the Panthers are still mired at the cellar with their victim with similar 1-3 win-loss records.

Action resumes today with three games on tap, starting off with the 1 p.m. duel between Worthy/University of the Visayas Green Lancers and Opto/CIT-U.

Highlands Corned Beef/University of Cebu Webmasters will take on Phinma/Southwestern University Cobras in the second game at 2:45 p.m., while Tyron/USPF will mix it up with the Cebu Landmasters/University of San Carlos Warriors in the main match at 4:30 p.m. (FREEMAN)
