SWU, USJ-R off to hot start in CESAFI beach volley
CEBU, Philippines – The Southwestern University and University of San Jose-Recoletos snared two wins each at the start of their respective campaigns in this year’s Cebu Schools Athletic Association Inc. beach volleyball event at SWU's sand courts yesterday.
After their recent victory in the Unigames, SWU men’s squad led by Dave Cabaron posted a lopsided 21-11, 21-12 victory against the University of Cebu.
After a short rest, SWU gave some neat lessons to neophytes John Rey Arenasa and Kevin Juban of the University of the Visayas, 21-18, 21-17.
For their part, Owen Belen and Kent Jay Verbosidad of USJ-R upended UV’s bets, 21-18, 21-18. They collected their second win against University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 21-16, 21-14.
Meanwhile, USPF and UC also won against their respective game against Cebu Institute of Technology University.
USPF triumphed over CIT-U, 21-15, 21-15 as UC chalked a 21-16, 21-14 victory. (FREEMAN)
