Cebuano fighter falters in ONE FC debut

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano mixed martial arts fighter Vaughn ‘The Spawn’ Donayre suffered heartbreaking defeat in the hands of Mohamad Walid who forced Donayre to tap out via armbar in ONE Fighting Championship card at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Walid and Donayre kicked off the action exchanging punches and kicks but it was Walid who secured a submission win in the 1:15 mark of the opening round.

Donayre seems to have the advantage in stand up combat, but Walid shot for the takedown before securing a full-mount position that was the key to lock an armbar finish.

The win could have made him one of the Filipino contenders in ONE FC, the largest mixed martial arts organization in Asia.

Donayre who started to hone up his MMA skills at Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu and DEFTAC Cebu suffered his second defeat in nine fights.

Aside from Donayre, former Filipina boxing champion Ana Julaton also suffered his first MMA defeat in the hands of Ann Osman of Malaysia in their flyweight bout.

Julaton was out grappled by the wrestling expert Osman, but the Pinay fighter showed heart as he finished the fight. After three-rounds of war, it was Osman who was declared winner via split decision. (FREEMAN)
