Cops beef up security plans for Kalag-Kalag

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and its partner agencies are strengthening security preparations for Kalag-Kalag 2026, including increased patrols, police assistance desks, and traffic management measures around cemeteries.

The preparations were discussed during an inter-agency coordination meeting at the CCPO conference room to finalize security and public safety plans for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

The meeting was presided over by Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace J. Pelare, deputy city director for operations of the CCPO. It was attended by Police Lt. Col. Miguel B. Andeza, chief of the Community Relations Unit (COMU) and S3; Police Maj. Winston D. Magdadaro, assistant chief of COMU; and the commanders of police stations 1 to 13.

Representatives from the local government, Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification, and Enhancement (PROBE), the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), and force multipliers also attended the meeting.

Under the security plan, police station commanders and force multipliers will establish Police Assistance Desks (PADs) and intensify patrols in and around cemeteries to provide immediate assistance to the public and maintain peace and order.

The CCTO has also prepared traffic rerouting schemes, designated parking areas, and road-clearing measures along key routes to help ease traffic congestion during the observance.

Meanwhile, the CDRRMO and BFP discussed the deployment of medical teams, ambulances, and fire trucks at strategic locations to ensure a prompt response to possible emergencies.

PROBE will also assist in regulating vendors and maintaining order around cemetery perimeters.

The participating agencies also confirmed the schedule for the operational dry run and send-off ceremony as part of preparations for Kalag-Kalag 2026.
