CEBU, Philippines — An alleged turf conflict in the distribution of illegal drugs in Barangay Calamba, Cebu city claimed the life of a 32-year-old man Friday night.

Jonathan P. Nacional was crossing the V. Rama Ave. in front of Calamba Cemetery around 9:30 p.m. when a man only identified as “Irish” met him in the middle of the road and fired a gun at him.

Nacional, who was hit in different parts of his body, died on the spot.

Police Major Francis Talosig, Sawang Calero Police Station chief, said the victim was previously arrested for violating Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and was released on bail.

He said they found out that the suspect had been waiting for the chance to kill Nacional, who allegedly intruded into his (Irish) “territory” in selling illegal drugs.

“Mao to, sa una pa gipangita na siya. Kompiyansa man siya, wala siya nagtago or unsa. Unya previously arrested pud mao to gitirahan siya sa pikas nga grupo,” Talosig said.  — (FREEMAN)
