DOTr, CPA bid out P336 million project in San Fernando

CEBU, Philippines —  At least four construction firms have joined in the public bidding for the P336-million port project in San Fernando town in southern Cebu.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Cebu Port Authority conducted another bidding yesterday after the special bids and awards committee declared a failure the two previous biddings.

Vying for the project are F. Gurrea Construction Inc., Hi-tone Construction and Development Corporation, Premium Megastructures Inc., and RCDG Construction Corporation/BSP & Company Inc./Grat Swiss Metal Builders Corporation Joint Venture.

The DOTr-funded project has an approved budget for the contract (ABC) of P336,114,557.47. The project includes the demolition of the existing dilapidated port and the construction of a new roro facility in Barangay Poblacion, San Fernando.

Once completed, the project will form part of the Central Spine Roro Route Project (CSRRP) of the DOTr, which would ensure that roro facilities are in place to serve the needs of the trade and tourism sectors and maintain inter-island connectivity.

The port facility will accommodate vessels plying from San Fernando, Cebu to Tubigon and Jagna Ports in Bohol, to the municipalities of Mambajao and Mahinog in Camiguin and Municipality of Balingoan and Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental. — FPL (FREEMAN)
