CEBU, Philippines — Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro has announced Friday his impending promotion to a higher position in Camp Crame this week.

Ferro made the announcement in his speech during the inauguration of the newly-constructed police station building in the town of Oslob in southern Cebu.

"Nalipay ko because this might be the last working-based for me here in Central Visayas because by next week, I might be reassigned to a higher task, to a higher position in Camp Crame," he said.

He said the inauguration of the newly-constructed police station in Oslob town was the tenth time that he attended in Central Visayas as he went to Siquijor, Bohol, and other islets in Cebu.

He is also set to attend a blessing and inauguration of police station in Negros Oriental today, in which, he said would be the eleventh time.

Ferro congratulated the police station personnel as they now have a comfortable place for clients who will seek refuge and help with the police force.

"This building will be a witness to the endeavors that you will embark as a team," Ferro said.

He is hoping that this will inspire them to achieve higher management and better relation with the community.

The blessing and inauguration of the new building is said to be a realization of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Patrol Fund through utilizing resources management.

Ferro said this is also in line with the modernization program of the PNP to construct standard buildings for all police stations in the region.

For his part, Oslob Mayor Jose Tumulak Jr. expressed his gratitude citing that the construction of the police station is not just a good development for the police but also to the residents of the town.

"Hinaut nga kining kooperasyon sa local government unit ug sa PNP magbunga ni og maayo unya ma-maintain nato ang peace and order sa atong lungsod," he said.

Cebu Second District Provincial Board Member Jose Mari "Tata" Salvador who was also present during the inauguration said that with the leadership of Ferro, it can be seen how disciplined are the police personnel in the midst of pandemic.

"I would say that with the leadership of General Ferro, nakita nato unsa ka-disiplinado ang atong mga polis, mga frontliners labi na sa atong giatubang karon nga Covid-19," he said.

He added that with the new building, there is hope despite the pandemic.

The LGU has donated the 400-meter lot where the police station is built.
