Cebu mayors give aid to Cagayan Valley

CEBU, Philippines — Following the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Cebu Chapter has donated P500,000 financial assistance to Cagayan Valley.

LMP Cebu Chapter president and Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco made the announcement following a consensus among the 44 municipal mayors in the Province of Cebu.

"We are sending the P500,000 in financial assistance as a sign of solidarity with our fellow mayors and our brothers and sisters in Cagayan. During this time of immeasurable suffering, may the Cebuanos’ compassion and empathy for our fellow Filipinos be a beacon of hope that together, we shall rise again," said Frasco.

Frasco said she has spoken over the phone with LMP Cagayan Chapter president and Santo Niño Mayor Vicente Pagurayan whom the latter expressed his profound gratitude to the Cebu mayors.

Pagurayan said he will convene the LMP Cagayan so the assistance can be apportioned to the 28 municipalities affected by the typhoon.–  GMR (FREEMAN)
