DSWD starts payout for waitlisted SAP beneficiaries in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines —  The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 has started last week the payout for waitlisted beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program in four municipalities in the Province of Cebu.

DSWD-7 regional director Rebecca P. Geamala said that about 1,227 family beneficiaries in Consolacion, Compostela, Oslob, and Liloan each received their P6,000 cash aid.

She said that around 149,579 waitlisted family-beneficiaries in the region are expected to receive their cash aid. The waitlisted beneficiaries are those eligible low income families who were not included and provided with emergency subsidy aid by DSWD and other government agency for the first tranche.

Geamala, in a statement, said that some 585,376 estimated low income households in Cebu province and highly urbanized cities are initially qualified for the second tranche which is equivalent to about P3.5 billion.

Based on Executive Order No. 112 dated April 30, DSWD targets low income families who are under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the month of May and the waitlisted families approved for SAP inclusion by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Meanwhile, the DSWD has already credited on June 11, 2020 the emergency cash subsidy through SAP for the 147,406 Pantawid household beneficiaries with cash cards in Cebu.

The payout for the second tranche of SAP for the Pantawid non-cash holders in Cebu is also ongoing.  FPL (FREEMAN)
