Ligan on sick leave; Tamayo sits as OIC

Iris Hazel M. Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Police Colonel Cydric Earl Tamayo will serve as the officer-in-charge of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) while Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, CCPO Director, is in the hospital.

Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Chief, said Ligan is on sick leave and is now in one of the hospitals.

"Siyempre sobrang napapagod tong si Josef (Ligan), so ato siyang gipapahuway para ma-check din," Ferro told reporters in a phone conference yesterday.

Ferro, however, said that Ligan had tested negative twice during his Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) testing. He added that they are awaiting another test.

Yesterday, Tamayo paid Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella a courtesy visit.

The CCPO, under Tamayo's leadership, is the agency tasked for the security deployment of Cebu City as it undergoes General Community Quarantine (GCQ). Among those that were tightly guarded were the Sitio Alaska of Barangay Mambaling and Sitio Zapatera of Barangay Luz that were placed under lockdown.

Ferro, however, clarified that Ligan will go back to his post once he is fine.

Meanwhile, Ferro said that there will be police personnel from the CCPO that have served more or less two years already that will be impacted in the reshuffling of personnel. The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) will also undergo the same process, he said.  GAN (FREEMAN)
