2 high-value drug targets fall

CEBU, Philippines —  More than P4 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from two high-value suspects in separate police operations in Cebu City on Friday.

The first operation was conducted by the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office headed by Police Major Randy Caballes in Barangay Calamba.

It resulted in the arrest of Jennifer Jaca, 40, a resident of the same place who is considered a high-value target in the regional level.

Caballes described Jaca as a “picky” seller, who does not transact with buyers unless in bulk.

Caballes added that as a high-value target, Jaca can allegedly dispose of 100 to 200 grams of shabu every week.

Following intelligence reports about his illegal activities, Jaca was placed under surveillance by the authorities for a week.

The monitoring allegedly confirmed that Jaca was indeed into the illegal drug trade, with his customers coming from different barangays in Cebu City.

During the buy-bust operation, at least 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at P680,000 was recovered from Jaca’s possession.

In another buy-bust operation, operatives from Pardo Police Station arrested another high-value target in the region identified as Niño Cabiso, 37, in Barangay Cogon-Pardo, same city on Friday night.

Just like Jaca, Cabiso is also able to sell 100 grams of illegal drugs weekly, said Major John Kareen Escober, chief of Pardo police.

Cabiso has allegedly become the contact for peddlers or users from Duljo-Fatima, Pardo, and other nearby areas wanting to buy supplies from him.

Police retrieved 521 grams of suspected shabu from Cabiso worth P3.5 million.

Jaca and Cabiso will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.  JMD (FREEMAN)
