Woman stabbed dead by lover

CEBU, Philippines — Jealousy allegedly led a 38-year-old man to stab dead his 32-year-old live-in partner with a knife in Sitio Patag, Barangay Bonbon, Cebu City, around 10:30 a.m. last Monday.

Police Staff Sergeant Mark Daclan, who investigated the incident, said the niece of the victim, Arcely Sepada Ubas, heard her arguing with Eugenio Cabalquinto Taborada Jr. before the stabbing happened. She went to check on them and saw just when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the left side of her chest, killing her.

The two allegedly argued after Taborada accused his live-in partner of having an affair with someone else.

Paramedics responded to the incident and reported finding the victim without a pulse and showing no signs of life.

The victim was brought to St. Francis Funeral Homes along N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City, while the suspect was arrested by Police Corporal Aldrin Pelayo. The suspect was later brought to the police station for the filing of appropriate charges.

Police investigators recovered a knife measuring 12 inches, including the handle, from the crime scene. — Diane Leizle A. Ganar CNU Comm intern BRP (FREEMAN)
