Mayor Reluya eyes raps vs Feliciano over drug tag

May B. Miasco - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — San Fernando Mayor Lakambini Reluya is eyeing at filing charges against political opponent Ruben Feliciano for accusing her of being a drug protector.

“Soon, I will file a case against him for doing this, for maligning my reputation,” Reluya told reporters on the sidelines of the caravan of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) political party in Liloan yesterday.

“I will make a move… It is not at all times that he can do that to me. Everybody knows it. Ikaw lang ang naniniwala (only you believe your claims),” Reluya said.

She challenged Feliciano to substantiate his claim that Reluya used drug money to win in the previous election.

“You put substance to your claims. Put substance to your allegations. Show me documents… Prove your case. If (I am a) drug protector then show something,” Reluya said during an interview with reporters on the sidelines

Reluya and Feliciano are running for mayor in San Fernando in the May polls.

Earlier, Feliciano denied having a hand in the ambush in January that injured Reluya and killed her husband, Ricardo. He also dismissed reports that he has a “kill list” that includes the Reluyas.

Reluya said she prefers to take the high road.

“If that is his way to gain recognition or what, or to be known, it is worthless. Plus, let us do things professionally. I will not stoop (down) at his level,”

Reluya attended the second and last day of the Metro Cebu-wide caravan led by HNP founder and chairperson, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte yesterday. The day before, Feliciano joined the same caravan in Mandaue City. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
