CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) does not feel any pressure amid the investigations conducted by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Senate on the series of killings in Metro Cebu.

Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas who was present during the 117th Police Service Anniversary of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) even suggested to probers to visit Talisay City.

"I am not pressured. I am requesting they should go there and they will see how the people will react and know these operations are real," Sinas said.

He highlighted that Talisay is a priority City in the war against illegal-drugs.

Sinas expressed he is happy to deliver results in line with the administration's flagship campaign.

"We are happy that we are able to deliver our promise to our President. We faced the challenged squarely and we do not care kung kinsa pa na ang mag-imbestiga or mag threaten, magpresyo sa mga pulis. That is part of our job. Everybody is doing their own job. If you want to investigate, investigate. Akoa lang in the long run you will see the difference," Sinas said.

The investigation stemmed from the string of killings in Cebu City and some parts of the province.

One particular incident that triggered the Senate to look into the killings was the alleged murder five personalities in Barangay Malubog last October.

However, police repeatedly denied this saying it was a result of a conflict between drug groups.

On the other hand, CHR recently expressed that killings in anti-drug operations are in no way acceptable following the two consecutive drug operations that killed six persons in Lawaan 3 and Maghaway, Talisay City.

However, PRO-7 already said the operations resulted in deaths since suspects fired at the police.

Last Friday, police seized P41.8 million worth of illegal drugs from a big-time drug courier Michael Carabaña and two other cohorts in Barangay Sambag 2.

Last month, police also recovered P39 million worth of illegal drugs from a "bodegero" Jeffrey Cabaron in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tisa.

"Kadagko sa mga 3 kilos (of shabu seized in recent anti-drug operations), buhi man lagi? Because so long as you don't resist the PNP," he said.

Sinas said the drug haul was a result of continued follow up operations. (FREEMAN)
