3 gang leaders nabbed during hazing rites
CEBU, Philippines — Three alleged leaders of Crips Gang were arrested while conducting hazing rites in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Sunday evening.
The suspects were identified as Charlie Baguio Degamo, 19; Jevan Godinez Enecita, 21, and Jomari Jordan Sulit, 21, all residents of Sitio Bagong Silingan in the same barangay.
Police Officer 1 Brilyen Zozobrado of the Women and Children Protection Desk of Mactan Police Station said they received report from a concerned citizen about an ongoing initiation in the area prompting them to respond.
Zozobrado said the responding team found the suspects in the middle of the initiation rites of 12 aspiring members. The victims, aged 12 to 15, are all students of Mactan National High School.
The rescued minors were turned over to Home Care Center, a city government-owned facility intended for children at risk and children in conflict with the law. Mactan Police Station 2 commander Chief Inspector Wayne Magbanua said the rescued minors suffered bruises and wounds from hazing.
Criminal complaints for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law of 2018 are already being prepared for filing against the suspects. (FREEMAN)
