Bigtime nubain dealer falls

CEBU, Philippines — An alleged bigtime pusher who sold nubain was arrested together with three other companions in a buy-bust operation inside a dormitel in Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City, on Friday evening.

More than P137,500 worth of nubain ampoules were recovered from the suspects who were identified as Louei Goopio, Gerald Amador, 24, John Rey Molinio, 24, and Albert Coguia, 35.

Chief Inspector Maria Theresa Macatangay, Abellana Police Station chief, said that the police successfully transacted with Goopio and his companions for 10 Nubain ampoules, after which they were immediately arrested.

In all, the operatives eventually found 540 nubain ampoules from the suspects.

Macatangay said that Goopio is in the top 10 of the drug watch list of the Parian Police Station. He is also considered as a high-value target by the Cebu City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit.

Meanwhile, at least P77,408 worth of illegal drugs was seized from six suspected drug personalities in separate buy-bust operations in Lapu-Lapu City.

Randy Igot, 46, was arrested in Sitio Soong Center, Barangay Mactan, at 9:45 p.m., last Thursday. This eventually led to the arrest of Reynaldo Suralta, 38, of Sitio Bagong Silang and Jayson Silawan, 36, of Sitio Katotong, all in the same barangay.

Superintendent Mark Gifter Sucalit, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office- City Intelligence Branch, said the responding police confiscated at least 31 sachets of suspected shabu weighing four grams and with an estimated value of P47,200. Another P540 in suspected drug money was also seized from them.

Meanwhile, in Jerico Solano, 41, was arrested in his residence in St. Paul Village, Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, around 6:20 p.m., said Sucalit.

Almirante Castañares, 32, a resident of Sitio Sewage, Barangay Pusok, was also arrested. Police seized five sachets of suspected shabu estimated at P23,600 from them.

Last Friday, Chief Inspector Jaime Tolentino of the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Charles Albano, 32, around 9:45 p.m. in Purok Kapayas, Barangay Gun-ob.

Confiscated from Albano were 14 sachets of suspected shabu     with an estimated value of P6,608, weighing around 0.56 grams.

None of the suspects resisted when the police arrested them. All those arrested will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002.  Christell Fatima M. Tudtud/BRP (FREEMAN)
