Fire razes four houses in Bulacao

CEBU, Philippines — A fire destroys four houses in Sitio Fatima, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City yesterday with damages amounting to P200,000.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Dionisio Regasa of Bureau of Fire Protection - Cebu City said they received the alarm at 2:02 p.m. and put the fire put under control by 2:30 p.m. It was completely put out by 3:31 p.m.

Based on the initial investigation, the fire originated from a rented house owned by Enrico Ocariza.

Janice Angcon, 34, one of the victims, could not describe how she felt when she came home and found the house she lived in for seven years has burned down. But she was thankful that her three sons aged four to nine were  spared.

"Wala gyud ko'y nakuha bisag gamay gyud tawn sir kay gikan pa man ko trabaho," she said.

"Pero mapasalamaton kay ko sir kay wala gyud tawn maunsa akong tulo ka gagmay'ng anak," she added.

Rodrigo Jabellana, Barangay Chairman of Bulacao, assured that the barangay will provide assistance to the fire victims.

"Amo pang tan-awn kon pila gyud ka pamilya ang apektado. Naa man mi bakante nga kapilya nga pwede nila silongan, pero og dili gani masigo, naa ra sad mi gym," he said.

"Rest assured that we will cater to them kay we have budget for that man sad," he added.

Barangay Bulacao is still closely coordinating with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to determine the cause of the fire. (FREEMAN)
