BOC holds Korean vessel

CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs-Cebu held a vessel which reportedly arrived from South Korea as it allegedly contained contraband.

BOC-Cebu district collector Elvira Cruz yesterday directed Reymundo Leyson, chief of Port Operations Division, to hold in abeyance any movement of MV Christina which arrived at the Port of Cebu last January 29 and docked at the Cebu International Port.

The vessel, Leyson said, came from South Korea.

"We are holding in abeyance the movement of the carrying vessel while it is investigated by our Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service and Enforcement and Security Service," said Leyson.

Ping Uckung, legal officer of the Cebu Port Authority, in his Facebook account said the shipment smells like garbage. He even took photos of it.

"It looks like a garbage to me. Although it is the DENR's function to declare it as such," Uckung said in his post.

A source who refused to be named said that tons of garbage have been shipped to Cebu. (FREEMAN)
