Dumpit doesn’t mind work vs drugs

CEBU, Philippines - With three years left until his retirement, controversial policeman Adonis Dumpit who was just been reassigned back in Cebu City, does not mind devoting the next three years to the fight against illegal drugs.

"Kun unsay sugo gikan sa taas, mo-comply ra ko... Wa koy choice, mapugos gyod ko'g himo," he told reporters.

If given a chance, Dumpit said he would want to work again with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, his original unit.

Dumpit started reporting to the Cebu City Police Office last Monday following the reassignment order issued by Police Regional Office-7 Director, Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, on October 21.

He is temporarily detailed at the Cebu City Personnel Holding Administrative Unit of CCPO.

Since he has no house to stay in the city, he is taking shelter with Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

He said he does not mind getting assigned as the mayor's security detail again. It was former CCPO Director Benjamin Santos Jr. who assigned Dumpit to Osmeña.

Osmeña, though, said earlier he would not ask PRO-7 to reinstate his security detail. He clarified that he has never asked for security detail in the 30 years he served as mayor.

Dumpit was transferred to Bohol last August as part of the Provincial Public Safety Company of the Bohol Provincial Police Office. This was months after he was released from the Regional Penitentiary in Abuyog, Leyte.

Taliño said he moved Dumpit back to Cebu since CCPO lacks personnel.

Earlier, the Court of Appeals granted Dumpit's petition for bail while the case against him for allegedly killing suspected robber Ronron Go is being heard.

In 2014, the lower court convicted Dumpit of homicide and sentenced him to nine years and four months in prison.

Dumpit will be retiring at 56. (FREEMAN)
