12 nabbed in Consolacion drug bust

CEBU, Philippines - Twelve people were arrested in Barangay Tugbungan, Consolacion Saturday evening during an anti-drug operation conducted by the operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection group-7.

The buy-bust operation against suspected drug pusher Omar Abejero, 27, has led police operatives to a drug den where the other suspects were caught sniffing shabu.

The suspects were identified as Exiquila Sasing, 59, caretaker of the drug den; Norvin Heyrosa, 20; Martires Sasing, 32; John Paul Rosal, 19; Genes Thom Loquillano, 18; Lorvie Baltazar, 28; Randy Pino, 33; Concordio Babor, 19; Teleforo Penaranda, 42; Arnel Masacampo, 26; and Quincy John Mosquera, 27.

Senior Police Officer 3 Willard Selibio said Obejero sold a pack of shabu worth P300 to an undercover policeman. He is reportedly a member of the Dansoy Group, a new group of illegal drug peddlers in Consolacion.

Selibio said Obejero had been placed under surveillance for few weeks following reports of his involvement in illegal drugs. A team led by Chief Inspector Maximo Sumeg-ang Jr., chief of the CIDG-Cebu Province, conducted the buy-bust operation last Saturday resulting in his arrest.

The police recovered 51 packs of suspected shabu weighing more or less 10 grams worth P118,000 from Obejero.

All of the 12 suspects are now detained at the CIDG-7 headquarters and will be facing criminal complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002. (FREEMAN)
