Man survives suicide try

CEBU, Philippines - A 27-year-old man tried to end his life Friday afternoon by slashing his wrists and chest before jumping off the second floor of his apartment in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

The victim, name withheld, is now recuperating at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Senior Police Officer 4 Alex Dacua, homicide investigator, said the victim allegedly had an argument with his roommate before the suicide attempt. The roommate confirmed having an argument with his roommate over financial matters.

The police did not anymore elaborate about it and the relationship of the victim and his roommate.

According to the police, the victim was seen by the landlord acting strangely and drunk in the morning of Friday. He was assisted by his landlord’s staff and was advised to take a rest.

But he was found bloodied at 2 p.m. inside the comfort room with lacerated wounds in both wrists and chest. The victim, after being found, ran outside his room and jumped off the 20-foot high second floor of the apartment.

Rescue personnel from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation were called to assist the victim. He was rushed to VSMMC where he is now out of danger.

Homicide investigators said they will allow the victim to fully recover before he will be subjected to questioning.  (FREEMAN)
