Azalea now gets barangay clearance

CEBU, Philippines - Officials of Barangay Kamputhaw have finally granted clearance to the ongoing construction of the 25-storey condominium project along Gorordo Avenue which they have earlier opposed.

Kamputhaw Barangay Captain Lorenzo Basamot issued the clearance last February 22 to Azalea Place despite his earlier complaint. Project Engineer Pedro Adonis Compendio said they were issued the clearance without any question.

Compendio however explained that the clearance from Kamputhaw did not anymore matter in their application for building permit permit from the Office of the Building Officials since they have long been issued clearance by Barangay Lahug.

Compendio said the clearance from Lahug was the basis of OBO in issuing construction permit for the project.

Compendio said they only secured clearance from Kamputhaw to appease the barangay officials who complained that they were not informed about the project.

The complaint was referred to OBO by the Cebu City Council. With the issuance of the clearance, however, the complaint would now be considered moot and academic.  (FREEMAN)
