Weddings in the Age of Social Media

"Love @ First Like" was the title of the 2015 bridal fair at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel (CCMH). The event, a first of its kind, was unique and aimed to cater to both wedding suppliers and engaged couples alike.

The three-day bridal event, launched on February 23, featured a two-day intensive workshop where wedding suppliers learned from experts of the craft. Resource speakers included celebrity wedding planner Rita Neri, visual storyteller Jason Magbanua, premier event stylist Teddy Manuel and top photographer Dino Lara.

With the theme "Taking weddings to the age of social media," Cebu City Marriott Hotel envisioned the event to help boost the local wedding industry by staging a marketing platform through digital media to debut Cebu's wedding industry. On February 25, "Love @ First Like" featured an open bridal fair exhibit showcasing the services of over 40 of the city's wedding suppliers as well as a panel discussion with social media gurus to encourage the industry to present their craft online. The discussion opened a world of possibilities to Cebu's local wedding industry players, especially guiding participants where to begin in their social media marketing.

Capping the event were a cocktail reception and the launch of a promotional video featuring  each of the hotel's partner suppliers. Each video highlighted the supplier's strengths in their area of expertise and a good material to share through the social media.
