Gerald: ‘There are worse problems than my love life’

CEBU, Philippines —  When asked on the status of his heart during a recent virtual interview for the conclusion of “A Soldier’s Heart,” Gerald Anderson said it was “at peace and quiet.”

That calm was disturbed again the past days with allegations of him impregnating Julia Barretto as claimed in a social media post by former broadcaster Jay Sonza. Both stars have since belied and mocked the rumor, while their accuser issued a non-apology.

“Sa industriya natin, maraming nakikialam eh. Maraming may opinion at judgment,” shared the actor, in explaining why he considers it a struggle to find peace and contentment.

“But buhay ko ito, buhay mo yan. Kung ano nagpapasaya sayo…alam mo naman na hindi mo sadya manakit at manapak ng tao. Just live your life and be happy. Darating ang mga pagsubok, but life goes on. Mas maraming tao diyan na may malaking problema kaysa sa akin, lalo na sa sitwasyon ngayon. Nakakahiya naman kong magrereklamo ako dahil I am being bashed about my love life.”

He credited his “A Soldier’s Heart” colleagues for “saving” him amidst last year’s onslaught of issues on his break-up with Bea Alonzo that pointed at Julia as the third party.

“I know my values, my personality and everything about me has been questioned since last year, but I think may ginagawa akong tama sa buhay dahil napasama ako sa ganitong proyekto and I’ve been surrounded by great people. I wouldn't have survived the – sorry lagi ko jino-joke ito – yung unang pandemic ko nung 2019, if not for people around me, from the veteran actors to the younger ones,” said Gerald, who will soon start work on a new romantic-drama series. – VAB
