Baron Geisler to marry psychologist girlfriend from Cebu

CEBU, Philippines — After Kaye Abad and John Lloyd Cruz, another “Tabing Ilog” star has been besotted by a Cebuano and is looking to settle down in Cebu.

Baron Geisler, 36, revealed to push.abs-cbn.com that he is set to marry his girlfriend of eight months, the Cebuana psychologist Jamie Marie Evangelista. The couple, who became official last September, has been engaged for three months now.

According to the actor, his fiancee works with addicts and alcoholics in rehabilitation centers and teaches college students.

Philippine showbiz’s erstwhile bad boy, Baron has made headlines for his alcoholism, bar brawls, alleged sexual harassment, on-set skirmishes and a stint in jail.

Last year saw him turning over a new leaf when he decided to take rehabilitation seriously under the guidance of Yap Wellness Center in Banilad, Cebu City. After relapses, he finally managed to maintain his sobriety with the help of the rehab center, friends from Maranatha Christian Fellowship, and apparently, the inspiration of a blossoming romance.

Last November, Baron and his rehab coach Jheck Yap opened Gents Barber PH at the second floor of Gaisano Country Mall to provide employment to recovering addicts.

“Ginamit kong puhunan yung konti kong namana at ibinenta ko yung Fortuner ko para makapagsimula.  Kakabukas lang nung barber shop ko and so far it’s doing good naman,” he told push.com.

In February, a healthy-looking Baron told The Philippine Star: “I’m seeing someone. I’m praying one day I get married and settle down. She’s Cebuana. Gwapa kaayo. We’ve been together for half a year. She’s a wonderful soul.”

Asked what she likes about Jamie, Baron told push.com, “She’s very patient sa akin. Alam niya kung paano ako timplahin. Super happy ako kasi maalaga siya. When I had nothing, wala pa yung barber shop ko, nung walang-wala ako she supported me. Kasi ang buong pag-aakala ko wala na akong babalikan sa showbiz, kaya nagtayo na lang ako ng business.”

They have yet to decide on a wedding date. “May mga kailangan kaming bayaran, and then, baka it’s either next year or sooner. Bahala na si God, but we want it as soon as possible. Ang sa akin kasi, ayokong mag-premarital sex, we want to do it right. Pagod na ako sa laro, sa pag-party. Gusto ko na ring magkaroon ng sariling pamilya.”

The award-winning actor is part of an upcoming Brillante Mendoza-directed film and is currently seen as a guest star on ABS-CBN’s “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
