John Estrada hurt by daughter’s name change

CEBU, Philippines - “Magpahanggang Wakas” star John Estrada admitted that he was hurt when he found out that daughter Ina Estrada had changed her name when she joined GMA Network.

As reported on ABS-CBN News, the actor, who spoke to Boy Abunda on his talk show recently, stated that her decision to drop his family name and call herself Inah de Belen confused him at first.

“Of course, it’s a father's instinct. I even told [Inah’s aunt] Gelli [de Belen] that; and when my daughter called me, I said, ‘No way,’” he said.

John said that he began to understand after Inah’s management explained it to him, and had since learned to accept it.

“My love for my daughter is greater than my last name,” said John.

In a different interview, when asked what advice he gave Inah – who is currently starring in her first soap as the lead via GMA-7’s “Oh My Mama!” – before she joined showbiz, John responded, “To just be herself, enjoy what she’s doing and learn from fellow actors.”

Inah previously revealed that the only reason she changed her last name to her mother Janice de Belen’s maiden name was so that she would not be confused with the many other Estradas in the industry.  (FREEMAN)
