MCCI boosts tourism recovery efforts via Tiktok challenge

CEBU, Philippines —  The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is heightening its stance to support the tourism recovery in Cebu, urging Cebuano Tiktokers to promote Cebu’s culture, traditions, food, native and locally-made products, popular landmarks and other tourist spots.

As part of the Mandaue Business Month (MBM 2021), the Cebu Tiktokers challenge was launched last August 31, organized MDF Productions Creative Director Margo Frasco as Chair and Viva Communications, Inc., Area Business Development Head Zevie Marquez as Co-chair.

By using hashtag  #SugbuanonKo, Tiktokers are not only able to participate in the competition but are also are able to contribute to the recovery of the province’s tourism sector.

To join, challengers must upload their features on Tiktok with the hashtags #SugbuanonKo and #MBMREVup, and tag MCCI’s official account @mandauechamber.

Entries must also specify if they are joining for the individual or the group category.

Participants may produce their videos as tutorials, vlogs, Bisaya songs (composed or covers), artistic videos, or dance covers to the song Mabuhi Ka Sugbuanon.

Features of places and landmarks must specify the location, including the municipality, through the video description or in-captions.

Only features from or located in a city or municipality under the political jurisdiction of the Cebu Provincial Government will be qualified. Entries showing Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City cannot qualify as they are chartered cities independent of the political jurisdiction of the Cebu Provincial Government.

The Tiktok Challenge aims to showcase the less featured or undiscovered beauty of Cebu Province's cities and municipalities.

Top 3 entries per category will receive cash prizes of up to P25,000 for the group category and P10,000 for individual category.
