CEBU, Philippines —  Three universities in Cebu made it to the list of UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) Review Test Preparation Center for their excellence in Business Administration programs.

The Quezon City based UPCAT review center endorsed University of Visayas (UV), University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu, along with other colleges and universities around the country, which carry the Commission of Higher Education’s ( CHED) badge as Center of Excellence (COE) and Center of Development (COD).

CHED declared top 15 universities and colleges around the Philippines in Business Administration course programs under the 2019 List of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with COE and COD.

COE refers to a department within a higher education institution, which continuously demonstrates excellent performance in the areas of instruction, research and publication, extension and linkages and institutional qualifications.

Being proclaimed a Center of Excellence means that the university “has demonstrated excellent performance in a respective field in the areas of teaching instruction, research and publication, extension and linkages, and has reached institutional qualifications.

UV’s College of Business Administration is now on its third cycle as part of CHED’s top universities in this particular program.

According to Dr. Rose Español, UV Dean for College of Business Administration and Chief Finance Officer, said the University is working hard to achieve the CHED’s standard to be recognized as COE and COD.

Commitment for high quality education is just part of the overall thrust of UV to be in the CHED’s A-list in Business Administration program.

Other schools that are part of the top 15 in Business Administration program, include Holy Angel University, Adventist University of the Philippines, Lyceum of the Philippines University—Batangas, University of Batangas, Ateneo De Naga University, Catanduanes State University-Main, Central Philippines University, University of Mindanao, University of the Immaculate Conception, Ateneo De Manila University—Quezon City, and Centro Escolar University-Manila.

Being proclaimed a Center of Excellence means that the university “has demonstrated excellent performance in a respective field in the areas of teaching instruction, research and publication, extension and linkages, and has reached institutional qualifications.

This allows the university to be identified as a world-class educational center, and can be advertised by the government to international institutions for student exchanges and international lectures, among others.
